Annual Medical Missions

Provide indigent patients with free medications, consultations, and surgeries, offering essential healthcare services.

$55,000

Amount Funded

Challenges

For UST Charity Hospital, recovery from the pandemic has been challenging for the communities we serve. Indigent patients in particular, have had difficulty accessing medical services such as inpatient care, surgery, medical consultations, and medications, resulting in low patient census across the board. Low patient census also negatively impacted clinical exposure for students, interns, and residents at the USTH Clinical Division.

Successes

- Total Patients Treated: 2,138
- Medical Consultations (including heart & breast health): 1,997 patients
- Surgical Cases: 141
- Medications: 2 – 4 weeks supply
- Glasses: 650 glasses distributed
- Follow Up: UST OPD, Clinical Division
- Volunteers: 60 Clerks, 46 Consultants, 64 Interns, 61 Residents, 19 Fellows, 85 Students, 39 Staff Nurses, and 4 Faculty
- Participation in and financial donation for disaster relief

"This mission gave our indigent patients a chance to receive quality medical and surgical care. On behalf of all the surgery residents, I am grateful to the UST Hospital, USTMAAA and all the sponsors for making it not just a possibility but lending their hands to make it happen."

- Rona Dimatatac, USTFMS Surgical Resident
